One Humanoid Escapee
Escapee episode #50 has been posted! The serial will now go on hiatus as I direct my attention elsewhere for a few months. I tried to give the story arc some measure of closure and tying up only a few loose ends. And also wanted to make it a pseudo-cliffhanger.
Josh Wentz also went and made a kick-ass interpretation of Unit 74-1, better known to anyone who reads the serial as Ion. Check it out here and make it your wallpaper. I sure did! Thanks, Josh! Keep doing stuff like that.
Josh will also soon be redesigning Ashlock.org so it'll actually be a functional and informational website. I owe him much for that.

GenCon 2006: The Fastest Four Days in Gaming
I have only one regret about this year's GenCon. I didn't join in a single RPG gaming session, a calamity I intend to remedy next year with a little bit of planning. I did, however, purchase and play Zombies!!! a couple times (Jess and Marisa won those games, escaping via helecopter as the rest of us became zombie food).
And that's that, because the rest of the GenCon was excellent. I got to hang out with people who I've previously known only via email (notably Jeremy Simmons, the meritorious cartographer for the Dungeon Crawl Classics line—among other things), do a signing at Goodman Games and snagging some more books.
Also did some networking, some of which was entirely accidental. More about that another day. If anyone is interested in seeing some GenCon photos, say so!

The Indy d20
It's time to jump a fourth of the way across the country to convene with a bunch of geeks and friends.
Geeky friends. Are there better?
I'm sure I'll have photos and stories upon my return.
Also, Escapee episode #49 has been posted. (Episode #50 will be a cliffhanger to precede an Escapee hiatus, so be sure to check back in next week...or the week after!)

First Book
I feel like such a little kid. Copies of DCC #31 just came out today, and so I braved the scorching sun to retrieve a copy of my own. Yeah, I was probably the first person to buy it, my own adventure. What a dork. But it was worth it.
GenCon looms, and I'm really getting excited. I don't even have a very frantic schedule for "the best four days in gaming." It's mostly just the hanging out, spectating, and people-meeting that's going to make it fun.
For those non-gamer friends of mine, don't worry, the GenCon posts will pass soon.
Edit: Escapee episode 48 has been posted.
